Aurora Visiting Nurse Association of Wisconsin extends walk-in flu shot clinics through Dec. 16

Thursday, December 08, 2005

Aurora VNA provided record 94,000 flu shots at this year’s public clinics

The response to this week’s walk-in flu shot clinics has been so successful, the Aurora Visiting Nurse Association of Wisconsin is extending them through Dec. 16.

“We are pleased that people who did not, or could not, get a flu shot earlier are taking advantage of this last opportunity,” said Lisa Taylor, R.N., Aurora VNA’s flu clinic coordinator. “After providing a record 94,000 immunizations at our regularly scheduled public flu clinics that ended Dec. 3, there was still a demand, so we began offering immunizations on a walk-in basis at our West Allis office Dec. 5.”

Shots will be available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Aurora VNA’s West Allis office, 11333 W. National Ave. through Dec. 16. No appointment is necessary.

For more information, call the Aurora VNA flu hotline at 414-328-4450 or click here.

Please note: the VNA does not vaccinate children under the age of 9, and children age 9 to 17 must have a parent with them to be immunized.

The Aurora Visiting Nurse Association of Wisconsin is the largest provider of flu shots in the state.

Aurora VNA is a not-for-profit agency that has been committed to keeping people independent in their homes since 1907. The Aurora VNA is the most comprehensive source of home care services in eastern Wisconsin. Aurora VNA is part of Aurora Health Care, a not-for-profit Wisconsin health care provider and a nationally recognized leader in efforts to improve the quality of health care.
