Aurora Wilkinson Medical Clinic to open center for womens services in Oconomowoc

Wednesday, February 08, 2006

New location is an interim step that anticipates the opening of new hospital

OCONOMOWOC, Wis., The physicians of Aurora Wilkinson Medical Clinic today announced plans to establish a center for women’s health services in Oconomowoc.

“This new clinic will allow us to consolidate a range of women’s services at one location, offering greater comfort and convenience for our patients,” said Patrick Sims, M.D.

Dr. Sims and four other physicians specializing in obstetrics and gynecology will move their offices from the existing Oconomowoc clinic to the new location. Some of them will continue to see patients at the Aurora Wilkinson clinic in Hartland as well.

Dr. Sims explained that the new women’s clinic in Oconomowoc is an interim step that anticipates the opening of Aurora Medical Center in the Town of Summit. “We expect to move virtually all of our women’s services to the new hospital when it opens,” Dr. Sims said.

The new clinic will occupy 14,100 square feet of leased space in a building to be built in Summit Center Marketplace on Summit Avenue, a short distance south of the main Wilkinson clinic in Oconomowoc. The new clinic will have exam rooms and a variety of diagnostic services including mammography, stereotactic biopsy, ultrasound and bone densitometry.

When the obstetrician-gynecologists move to the new building, Aurora will remodel parts of the existing clinic at 915 Summit Avenue to provide more space for other services.

In addition to the Oconomowoc and Hartland locations, Aurora Wilkinson Medical Clinic operates clinics in Delafield, Wales and Dousman.

Aurora Health Care remains committed to building a 21st century hospital at Interstate 94 and Highway 67 in the Town of Summit to meet the needs of Aurora patients and the fast-growing communities in western Waukesha County. The new hospital will offer a complete range of women’s health services, including state-of-the-art suites for labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum.

Aurora Health Care is a not-for-profit Wisconsin health care provider and a nationally recognized leader in efforts to improve the quality of health care. Aurora offers services at sites in more than 90 communities throughout eastern Wisconsin.
