Aurora breaks ground in Lomira health center

Thursday, July 13, 2006

Construction begins along US 41

Construction of the new Aurora Health Center in Lomira is officially underway near the intersection of US 41 and Hwy 67. Local government, business and Aurora leaders held a ceremonial groundbreaking July 12th at the construction site.

Aurora Health Care announced plans earlier this year for construction of the new Aurora Health Center. The 1-story, brick physician office building will be at 375 East St. It is next to Piggly Wiggly and the Dollar General store. It will occupy approximately 4,000 square feet. The center is being built in response to the growing health care needs of northern Dodge County community.

"Many of our patients live in northern Dodge or southern Fond du Lac County or nearby," said Mary Jo Merwin, administrator of the Aurora Health Center. "This new center will provide a new option for care closer to home."

The new center can comfortably accommodate 2 primary care providers and staff who will offer Lomira-area residents a wide range of medical services including preventive physicals, well visits, sick care, and care for patients with chronic health conditions.

"We are excited to be able to bring convenient, affordable health care to the residents of Lomira," said Merwin. "Aurora Health Care looks forward to becoming part of the community and providing medical care to the families in the area."

The center will feature outpatient diagnostic services, including an on-site laboratory, pharmacy and x-ray.

"It's important patients will be able to see their provider, receive tests and get their medications all in one place," said Merwin. "It just makes the whole healthcare experience less stressful."

The new health center is expected to be ready for occupancy in late 2006.

Other Aurora Health Centers located near Lomira include Fond du Lac and North Fond du Lac.

Aurora Health Care is a not-for-profit Wisconsin health care provider and a national leader in efforts to improve the quality of care. Aurora offers care at sites in more than 90 communities throughout eastern Wisconsin.
