Expansion of Aurora Health Center in Waterford complete

Tuesday, August 01, 2006

Urgent care services, added physician specialties, and retail pharmacy now offered

WATERFORD, Wis. — The physicians of Aurora Health Center in Waterford announced today that the clinic’s expansion is complete. The expanded clinic, nearly triple the size of the original clinic, features urgent care services, additional physician specialties, expanded lab and diagnostic services, and a retail pharmacy.

“This project reflects our commitment to addressing the community’s health care needs for years to come,’’ said Jennifer Decker, M.D., a family practitioner at the clinic. “With the continued residential and commercial development of Waterford and the surrounding area, there was a clear need for us to significantly expand our scope of services. Our patients prefer to be treated close to home whenever possible and this project will help us provide that care.’’

A community open house celebration is planned for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., on Sunday, Sept. 10.

The centerpiece of the expansion is the addition of urgent care services. Staffed by physicians who are board-certified in emergency medicine, the urgent care center will be able to address a broad array of common ailments from sore throats and fevers to fractures, minor lacerations, and chest pain.

“The addition of urgent care means that we will be able to meet patients’ immediate medical needs during evenings, weekends and holidays,’’ said Michael Bergmann, administrator, Aurora Medical Group. “We know that an ear infection or a broken ankle can occur at anytime. This will be a convenient option for busy families.’’

Urgent Care hours are Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.- 9 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m.-7 p.m., and holidays 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Urgent Care phone number is 262-514-8199.

The new expansion also provides space for more specialty physicians. Among the new specialties offered are behavioral health, cardiology, general surgery, orthopedics and ear, nose and throat. A new OB-GYN physician, Briana Williams, begins practice in September.

“The physician specialists coming to Waterford are well established and highly qualified,’’ Bergmann said. “We’re excited about being able to offer patients these options right in their community.’’

A retail pharmacy is also part of the expanded clinic. Patients will be able to have their prescriptions filled at the Aurora Pharmacy before they leave the clinic, saving time for anyone with a busy schedule. Janine Werry serves as the managing pharmacist at Aurora Health Center in Waterford.

“We’ve been serving the Waterford area for many years,’’ Dr. Decker said. “Our physicians and staff know the area very well and look forward to enhancing the care we provide.’’
