Aurora Health Center in Waterford plans open house celebration

Thursday, September 07, 2006

Clinic tours, free tailgate party, and children’s activities part of the day

WATERFORD, Wis., Residents of Waterford and nearby communities will be able to tour the newly expanded Aurora Health Center in Waterford during an open house celebration slated from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., Sunday, September 10, 818 Forrest Lane.

Following tours with physicians and staff, guests will be able to enjoy a free tailgate party lunch with brats, burgers and hotdogs, featuring Uncle Harry’s ice cream. Children activities include face painting and tattoos. Special music will be provided by the Celtic Nations Pipe and Drum Corps at 11:30 a.m. As part of the celebration, WLKG 96.1 FM will do live on site radio broadcasts. The event is free and open to the public.

Greg Hoffman, market manager, Aurora Health Care, said the staff is excited about showing the expanded clinic to the community.

"We’re planning a wonderful celebration and we invite Waterford area residents to see our remodeled facility,’’ he said. “The event has something for every one of all ages. We would like to thank the Waterford community for its support over the years.’’

The expanded clinic, nearly triple the size of the original clinic, features urgent care services, additional physician specialties, expanded lab and diagnostic services, and a retail pharmacy.

The centerpiece of the expansion is the addition of urgent care services. Staffed by physicians who are board-certified in emergency medicine, the urgent care center addresses a broad array of common ailments from sore throats and fevers to fractures, minor lacerations, and chest pain.

The new expansion also provides space for more specialty physicians. Among the new specialties offered are behavioral health, cardiology, general surgery, OB-GYN, orthopedics, and ear, nose and throat. A retail pharmacy is also part of the expanded clinic. Patients will be able to have their prescriptions filled at the Aurora Pharmacy before they leave the clinic, saving time for anyone with a busy schedule.

“This project reflects our commitment to addressing the community’s health care needs for years to come,’’ said Jennifer Decker, M.D., a family practitioner at the clinic. “Our patients prefer to be treated close to home whenever possible and this project will help us provide that care.’’
