Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlingtons Crystal Ball event slated for Feb. 2

Thursday, January 03, 2008

Mark your calendar for Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington's 5th annual Crystal Ball, coming up Saturday, Feb. 2.

This elegant event, to be held at the Lynch Dealership, located at Highway 36 and W, Burlington, combines an evening of fun, fine food, and will feature music from the Eddie Butts Band. Live and silent auctions will also be held.

Proceeds from the event will go toward the purchase of life saving defibrillators for patients, their families and visitors to the hospital. Tickets are $80 per guest. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. Black tie optional. For tickets or more information, please call 262-767-6572 or click here.

Laverne Schmidt, philanthropy director, Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington, said the Crystal Ball once again promises to be a memorable event. Since its inception, more than $165,000 has been raised to support hospital programs and services.

"The community support for the Crystal Ball is truly inspiring,'' said Schmidt. "Much of the event's success is due to the dedication and commitment of our community volunteers. We would like to thank them for their hard work and support. Their efforts in improving the health and well being of the community are making a significant difference.''

Community volunteers involved with this year's event include Nick Dulisse, Connie Herrick, Pat Impens, Julie Kramer, Mary Lynch, Lyn Maker, Mandi McCarville, Jeanne Otter, Barb Robers, Pat Spiegelhoff, Jennifer Stephens, Michelle Weber, Gary Weis and Amanda Wills.

Sue Luedtke, director of nursing services, Aurora Memorial Hospital of Burlington, said the event plays an important role in improving the overall health of Burlington area residents.

"As health care providers, patient safety is an important focus for us,'' she said. "Defibrillators save lives and these units will go a long way toward keeping both our patients and our visitors safe.''
