Legal counsel and friend of Mother Theresa to present inspirational message at free community event
"How Lessons Learned From Mother Teresa Could Change Your Life." Jim Towey brings his inspirational message to the Milwaukee area on April 30. Towey spent 12 years as legal counsel to Mother Teresa of Calcutta and lived for a year as a full-time volunteer in her home for people with AIDS.
He will speak about how Mother Teresa's work with the dying inspired him to carry on her legacy of dignity at the end of life. Towey will share his experiences with Mother Teresa during a free community presentation on Wednesday, April 30. The event, sponsored by the Aurora Visiting Nurse Association, begins at 10:30 a.m. at the Radisson Hotel - Milwaukee West, 2303 N. Mayfair Rd., Wauwatosa.
Following Towey's presentation, participants may pick up a free Advance Care Planning packet that will let their doctor, family and friends know how a person wants to be treated if they become seriously ill and cannot communicate their wishes. Trained facilitators will be on hand until 1 p.m. for anyone wishing to discuss the legal and emotional aspects of advance care planning, as well as how to begin to have these important conversations with a loved one.
A complimentary light lunch will be provided to all attendees following Towey's presentation.
While the event is free of charge, an RSVP is required. Anyone interested in attending the presentation is asked to RSVP by calling 888-863-5502.
The Aurora Visiting Nurse Association is part of Aurora Health Care, a not-for-profit Wisconsin health care provider and a nationally recognized leader in efforts to improve the quality of health care. Aurora offers care at sites in more than 90 communities throughout eastern Wisconsin.
