Aurora Diabetes Support Group to Discuss Reading Food LabelsThursday, September 04, 2008
Marinette, Wis. - Aurora Health Center will host its monthly Diabetes Support Group meeting at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 16. At the event, attendees will learn how to read food labels on packaged products.
Nola Hardy, a registered dietitian with Aurora Health Care, will host the Diabetes Support Group meeting. The discussion will include an explanation of the percentages on food labels, how to count carbohydrates using a food label and a comparison of sugar-free and fat-free products to the original product. After the session, attendees will have a good understanding of what is important on a food label and what is not important.
The series of support groups meets on the third Tuesday of each month. Meetings are free and open to individuals with diabetes, their family, friends and caregivers. Presentations take place from 6 to 7 p.m. and are held in the conference room at Aurora Health Center at 4061 Old Peshtigo Road in Marinette.
For more information or to RSVP, contact Nola Hardy at (715) 735-7421.
