Aurora Health Center in Two Rivers Adds Digital MammographyWednesday, October 22, 2008
Two Rivers, Wis. - Digital mammography is now available at Aurora Health Center, 5300 Memorial Drive, in Two Rivers.
According to the National Cancer Institute, digital mammography is better than film mammography in screening women under age 50 and women of any age with very dense breasts.
Digital images allow radiologists to manipulate the magnification, orientation, brightness and contrast of the mammogram image. This provides clearer visualization of certain areas of the breast. Digital mammography involves a shorter exam time-approximately half the time of a standard film-based mammography-and provides instant images and therefore faster results.
In addition to digital mammography at Aurora Health Center, patients can visit Aurora Medical Center, 5000 Memorial Drive, in Two Rivers for breast MRI. The American Cancer Society recommends breast MRI and mammography beginning at age 30 for women at high risk for breast cancer.
