A New Way to Think Pink

Thursday, December 04, 2008

...and provide additional help to those most in need

Milwaukee, Wis. - Aurora Health Care's Women's Pavilion and Hair and Body Solutions Salon and Spa of New Berlin partnered for a new kind of think pink initiative for breast cancer; pink hair extensions.

Throughout the month of October, pink hair extensions were being sold for $15 each at the Aurora Women's Pavilion in West Allis and at Hair and Body Solutions Salon and Spa in New Berlin. The profits from these bright little conversation starters were donated to the Young Women's Breast Cancer Fund at the Aurora Women's Pavilion.

This fund was created to help women with the costs that health insurance does not cover. Some of these costs include items like wigs and pain medications. Total proceeds reached $10,386.

"Breast cancer is a disease which is a devastating diagnosis for any woman" says Dr. Julie Kepple. "I am hopeful that these hair extensions helped remind women that it is extremely important to have regular mammograms and that regular screenings should always be a priority."

Aurora Health Care is a not-for-profit Wisconsin health care provider and a national leader in efforts to improve the quality of care. Aurora provides care at sites in more than 90 communities throughout eastern Wisconsin.
