6th Annual Willegal Wheat Tapping Set for Feb. 7
Milwaukee, Wis. -- It has been six years since Emily Willegal, 24, was brutally attacked and sexually assaulted. Although Emily died from the violent attack, her spirit and love of life continues to inspire her colleagues at Rock Bottom Brewery as they prepare for the 6th Annual Willegal Wheat Tapping and Fundraiser scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 7.
In honor of Emily, Rock Bottom brews a beer every February named Willegal Wheat. For the past five years, Rock Bottom has donated its proceeds from the annual tapping to The Healing Center, a Milwaukee based non-profit agency that offers sexual abuse survivors and their loved ones opportunities for healing by providing support, advocacy and community education.
The Rock Bottom Restaurant & Brewery is located at 740 N. Plankinton Ave. in Milwaukee, where Emily had worked. This year's event will begin at 7 p.m. For a minimum donation of $25, guests have the opportunity to enjoy Willegal Wheat. People interested in attending the event may call 414-276-3030.
Proceeds from the evening's event and from the continuous sale of the specialty beer will be donated in Emily's name to The Healing Center located at 611 W. National Ave. in Milwaukee. To date, Rock Bottom has donated $23,000 to support the mission of The Healing Center.
"Emily's family and friends very much want people to remember Emily for the kindness she showed people," said Maryann Clesceri, executive director of The Healing Center.
For more about The Healing Center or to get help for someone who has been sexually or physically abused, call 1-866-671-HEAL (4325) or visit www.thehealingcenter.org. The Healing Center is affiliated with Aurora Sinai Medical Center and work's closely with Sinai's Sexual Assault Treatment Center.
