June 7 event proceeds benefit Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinics

Green Bay, Wis. - Registration is open for the Aurora Run/Walk for Cancer to be held at 7 a.m. Sunday, June 7. There will be 5K and 10K courses, starting and finishing at Ashwaubomay Park, 2881 S. Broadway, in Ashwaubenon.

The run/walk coincides with National Cancer Survivor's Day.

"The Aurora Run/Walk for Cancer provides cancer survivors and their support teams the opportunity to celebrate survivorship and reflect on what they've accomplished," said Dhimant Patel, M.D., medical oncologist at the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic at Aurora BayCare Medical Center. "While many appreciate being alive each and every day, this is a once a year opportunity to truly celebrate beating and living with cancer."

The event isn't just for cancer survivors - running enthusiasts will enjoy the scenic, flat course heading north on Broadway, then to the Ashwaubomay River Trail to the Marina boardwalk. The 5K turns back at the Marina while the 10K continues north past the National Railroad Museum, then eventually looping around Fort Howard Park back to Ashwaubomay Park.

There will be overall, age group, and Athena/Clydesdale awards given out to the top athletes. Each person who participates will receive a t-shirt, goodie bag and plenty of food after the event.

The Aurora Run/Walk for Cancer will be held concurrent to the Green Bay Triathlon, which all participants are invited to watch following the run/walk. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic, approaching the fight against cancer on all fronts - with education, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and support.

Fees are $20 for adults and $10 for kids 12 and under. Register at, call 920-338-8741 or 800-429-8044, or e-mail
