Aurora Health Care names new chief administrative officer

Monday, December 13, 2010

Milwaukee, Wi. - Aurora Health Care today named Ray Grady, former president and chief executive officer of Evanston Hospital, the flagship of the NorthShore University HealthSystem in Evanston, Ill, as its senior vice president and chief administrative officer.

In this position, Grady will oversee affiliations, managed care contracting, market development, logistics, clinical research and Aurora Ventures, the for-profit arm of Aurora that manages its pharmacies, Aurora QuickCare and Aurora Vision Centers.

He will report to Nick Turkal MD, Aurora’s president and chief executive officer.

“The landscape of health care is changing rapidly,” says Turkal, “It’s imperative that as an integrated system we explore diverse options to collaborate in nontraditional ways as Accountable Care Organizations and health exchanges take root as components of state and federal health care reform. Ray brings a unique set of skills and experiences to help position us for changes in the marketplace that reform and other economic factors present.”

Grady served for 30 years in positions of increasing responsibility at NorthShore, formerly Evanston Northwestern Healthcare and its affiliates and hospitals. His key accomplishments with NorthShore include growing core services, enhancing medical staff relations, implementing cost reductions, improving quality and productivity and establishing clinical partnerships in the system’s service area.

He is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and he has chaired the Illinois Hospital Association, the Institute for Diversity, and the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education.

He begins with Aurora Dec. 13.

Aurora Health Care is a not-for-profit Wisconsin based health care provider and a national leader in efforts to improve the quality of care. Aurora provides care at sites in more than 90 communities throughout eastern Wisconsin and northern Illinois.
